The city is built along the lines of the board game Nine Men's Morris and it has the largest market square in Germany. Our array of shops, cafés and restaurants invites you to go shopping or for a walk or simply to enjoy the culinary delights. And if you’re tempted by green oases and parks with fountains and works of art encouraging you to relax and to rest a while, you will find these in Freudenstadt too.
Freudenstadt also offers unique natural scenery with 9000 hectares of forest. In the surrounding area, pine forests, glass-like mountain lakes, wildly romantic gorges and beautiful waterfalls all wait to be discovered. An abundance of sport and leisure facilities guarantees holiday fun for the whole family, all year round.
The favourable altitude of this health resort (700 to 1000 m above sea level) brings with it a healthy climate; the area is an officially-recognized Kneipp/climatic therapy resort.
